The 34th Summit of the ASEAN articulated a collective vision for the Indo-Pacific region.

The outcome document is non-binding in nature.

ASEAN specifies its centrality and underscore its significance in the Indo-Pacific region.

The document:

a. mentions the need for inclusive and rule based framework

b. urges to help to generate momentum for building strategic trust and win-win cooperation in the region.

In the 34th ASEAN summit, the divisions among member states were visible.

India welcomes the ASEAN outlook.

Now, it is time to observe how other stakeholders of the region play role in shaping balance of power in the Indo-Pacific.
